using GIS: Applications in Oceanography, Geology, and Multidimensional
Modeling"
Anderson 212, 10:30 am - 12:00 pm This workshop will demonstrate how a GIS can be used to visualize key oceanographic concepts. Topics covered will include sea floor spreading, plate tectonics, bathymetry, and the layers of the Earth. ArcGIS will be used to demonstrate global ocean phenomenon including, exclusive economic zones, marine pollution, and oil pollution. There will be a focus on the hydrological and marine data models and demonstration of how they are used in GIS problem solving. "Light on the
Hill Award: Nick Birnback" The Light on the Hill Award has been presented annually since 1995 to Tufts alumni who are leaders in their fields, who have offered constant support to Tufts and who are outstanding role models. It is the highest honor the student body bestows on an alumnus/a. Cabot Auditorium, 8-10 pm Nick Birnback received his B.A. in International Relations from Tufts University and also has a Masters degree in Public Policy at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University. He was the recipient of the Herbert Scoville Jr. Peace Fellowship, and he received the Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity 2000 Humanitarian Award as part of his work with UNAMET. Mr. Birnback also was the recipient of the EPIIC Alumni Recognition Award in 2003. |
